With over 25 years in the full-time ministry, Sajjan and Lisa have served the Lord and his people in churches in Boston, New Delhi, Albania and Bulgaria.  They have been blessed to serve as the Evangelist and Women's Ministry Leader for the Pioneer Valley Church of Christ in western Massachusetts for the past twelve years, where Sajjan also serves as an elder and uses his skills as a licensed counselor to comfort and heal many.  Both Sajjan and Lisa are trained as facilitators for SYMBIS as well as Gottman and EFT marriage counseling. They are celebrating their 25^th wedding anniversary this summer and have two teenage children who are both disciples of Christ!

Dr. Michael Shapiro currently serves as the Director of Behavioral Medicine at Duke Medical School's Southern Regional Area Health Education Center. As a member of the faculty there, he participates in the education and training of physicians going through their 3-year residency in Family Medicine. In addition, he provides direct clinical service to patients in the family medicine clinic and at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Dr. Mary Shapiro is the Director of the ADHD Clinic at the same facility, where she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, behavior disorders, and other childhood conditions.  For the 30 years prior to moving to North Carolina, they were in private practice in Athens, Georgia, where they served children in predominately rural and underserved areas. They both completed PhDs in Educational Psychology at the University of Georgia in 1984 and interned in the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia.  Together, they have lectured extensively--both domestically and abroad--on topics related to child psychology, parenting, marriage, adoption, and mental health issues in a Christian context. They have authored two publications for Discipleship Press International; “Rejoice Always: A Manual for Christians Facing Emotional Challenges” (which is now in its second edition) and “Understanding Sexual Behavior in Children: How to be Proactive in Educating and Protecting your Children.”

Shortly after becoming Christians at the University of Southern California, John & Arlene Markowski began serving side by side in the full-time ministry in 1999.  They fast became BFF’s and didn’t take long to fall in love, get married and start having kids.  

In 2010, the Markowskis sold everything and moved cross country with their two children (Thalia & Jaden) to join a mission field revival in the heart of the most densely populated urban center in the US. The Markowskis currently lead the Manhattan Region, aka ‘Big Apple Church’, of the New York City Church of Christ. John & Arlene moonlight as NY tour guides, Salsa instructors and food critics, but have yet to receive an income for their top-notch work. 

Kevin and Elizabeth Thompson lead the Greater Wilmington Church in Wilmington, North Carolina, which they planted in 2013. They have worked together in ministry since their college days at Duke University. Kevin holds a graduate degree from Abilene Christian University. Elizabeth is the author of multiple books, including All the Feels, the When God Says series, and the forthcoming All the Feels for Teens (October, 2021). She writes about Christian family life at ElizabethLaingThompson.com. Kevin and Elizabeth have four children, ages 15, 14, 12, and 8. They pray the lessons they’re learning, trying to wrestle Christ into the chaos of family life—give other families hope, practical help, and a lot of good laughs.

Phil and Ayhanna live in Maryland and lead the Capital Rivers Church which is in Montgomery County Maryland. They have been married for 20 years and have 3 awesome kids Phillip, Ashton, and Olivia. Phil and Ayhanna have served in the ministry for over 25 years all throughout Maryland and Virginia.

Doug and Jennifer live in Cincinnati- Ohio have been married for 32 years and have 2 children Will and Victoria who were both born on the mission field. Both of their children are married and a part of the church in San Antonio Texas and Gainesville Florida. They also have a grandson named Weston and another grandchild on the way! Doug and Jennifer have served in the ministry for more than 35 years! 

Sam and Cynthia Powell have served as evangelist and women's ministry leader in the NY church for the past 34 years. They currently oversee the NY staff ministering to almost 3,000 disciples. The Powells have been married for 40 years (August). They just became grandparents of twin boys (Landon, Kameron). Their daughters, Christina and Lauren are faithful disciples married to godly men (Milon, Kosi) who serve in the Lord's church. Their passion is to see leaders raised up and disciples going on to maturity in Christ.
